Dr. Shirin Panahi is a nutrition researcher and currently a postdoctoral fellow in the Department of Kinesiology at Université Laval in Quebec City. In 2014, she received a postdoctoral fellowship from the Canadian Diabetes Association to explore the interaction between diet and exercise on appetite and glycemic control in obesity and type 2 diabetes under the direction of Dr. Angelo Tremblay. Dr. Panahi is also a co-investigator on the Yogurt in Nutrition Initiative (YINI) Grant with Dr. Vicky Drapeau, examining the relationship between yogurt consumption, body weight and metabolic profile in children/adolescents susceptible to obesity in three large cohorts. Dr. Panahi completed her PhD in nutritional sciences at the University of Toronto under the supervision of Dr. Harvey Anderson in November 2013 where her research contributions included investigations of dairy products and their components on the regulation of food intake and glycemia in young adults. Shirin received her BSc in life sciences and MSc in nutritional sciences from the University of Toronto.
