Bénédicte Fontaine-Bisson is an Assistant Professor in the School of Nutrition Sciences at the University of Ottawa and a Registered Dietitian. She specializes in the field of perinatal nutrition with a focus on micronutrient intake during pregnancy and breastfeeding. Dr. Fontaine-Bisson,s research program also aims to better understand inter-individual variability in response to diet (nutrigenetics) as well as the effect of nutrients on gene expression (nutrigenomics) at different stages of the life cycle (from pregnancy to adulthood). She combines nutritional and genetic epidemiology, as well as clinical approaches to identify genetic, dietary and environmental factors acting individually or synergistically in the prevention of chronic diseases such as cardiovascular disease, obesity and type 2 diabetes.
