Professor of Nutritional Sciences, College of Agriculture and Natural Resources (CANR)
Nancy Rodriguez is a Professor of Nutritional Sciences in the College of Agriculture and Natural Resources (CANR) with joint appointments in Departments of Kinesiology and Allied Health Sciences at the University of Connecticut. She has been Director of the Sports Nutrition program at the University and for the Department of Sports Medicine in the Division of Athletics since 2001. Dr. Rodriguez received her B.S. in Human Nutrition and Foods at Virginia Tech and her MS in nutrition and PhD in biochemistry at West Virginia University. She spent two years at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN as an NIH Postdoctoral Research Fellow in Endocrinology and Metabolism. Dr. Rodriguez is an active member of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics and the Dietetic Practice Group - Sports, Cardiovascular and Wellness Nutritionists (SCAN), the American College of Sports Medicine, the American Society of Nutrition, and the American Physiological Society. Dr. Rodriguez is a 2014 appointee to the President's Council on Fitness, Sport and Nutrition Science Board, serving as Chair in 2015 and has received national, regional and university teaching awards. She has sustained an extramurally funded research program in the area of protein intake, protein utilization, energy balance and exercise in populations across the lifespan. A Registered Dietitian (RD) and certified specialist in sports dietetics (CSSD); Nancy has been a practicing dietitian for over 30 years.
