Dr. Flora Wang is the Manager of Nutrition & Scientific Affairs at the Canadian Sugar Institute Nutrition Information Service. Dr. Wang completed her PhD in Nutrition and Metabolism at the University of Alberta investigating health benefits of naturally-occurring trans fatty acids from dairy products and ruminant meats on dyslipidemia and the Metabolic Syndrome. She then completed a 3-year post-doctoral fellowship working on clinical studies assessing impaired non-fasting/postprandial dyslipidemia in childhood obesity and early stages of Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome. She also developed critical reviews and reports on natural trans fat and cardiovascular health and was involved in bench-to-bedside translational research in this area. At her current position, she conducts national and international research and policy monitoring in carbohydrate and health, provides scientific reviews and updates to print and digital communications to address key issues, and develops professional and academic collaboration, presentations, resources to support evidence-based nutrition advocacy and communications.
